About the Scholarship

The University of Sydney is offering a fully funded postgraduate research scholarship for outstanding domestic and international students interested in advanced research in photonics and integrated optical technologies.

The scholarship supports a PhD or MPhil student who will undertake research on “Convert and Compress: On-chip photonic processing for resilient RF systems” — an innovative project focused on developing next-generation photonic technologies for high-performance radio frequency (RF) signal processing.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled full-time in a:
  
  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil), or
  • PhD program
    within the School of Physics, Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney
• Hold one of the following qualifications in Physics or a related field:
  
  • Bachelor Honours degree with First Class or Second Upper Honours (or equivalent)
    OR
  • A relevant Master’s degree
• Be willing to conduct research in photonics, particularly in developing integrated RF photonic processors.

Applicants without an unconditional admission offer may still apply; however, the scholarship cannot be formally awarded until admission requirements are fulfilled.
