About the Research Project

Brain tumors actively communicate with the nervous system and their surrounding microenvironment. Building on recent discoveries from the Kim Laboratory, this project will investigate how neuronal activity, extracellular matrix composition, tissue stiffness, and mechanosensitive signaling pathways cooperate to drive glioma progression.

The research will focus on:

  • Neuron–glioma interactions

  • Mechanobiology of brain tumors

  • Neuroligin-3/CSPG4/PIEZO1 signaling

  • Tumor microenvironment remodeling

  • Mechanosensitive ion channels

  • Therapeutic target discovery for glioma

Candidate Profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in:

  • Neuroscience

  • Cancer Biology

  • Cell Biology

  • Molecular Biology

  • Bioengineering

  • Or a closely related discipline

Essential Skills

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong expertise in whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Strong publication record with at least one first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal

  • Motivation to work in an interdisciplinary research environment

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Stereotactic surgery

  • Intracranial tumor models

  • Acute brain-slice electrophysiology

  • Calcium imaging

  • Cancer research

  • Neuro-oncology
